What is hair transplant?
Hair loss is one of the most common cosmetic problems today for men and women. It has been mostly observed among men. It is normal to shed between 50 and 100 strands of hair per day. If there is spillage in numbers above this, a specialist should be visited for consultation.
Although hair loss can be reduced or prevented with various hair treatments such as hair laser and PRP, hair transplantation is performed as a permanent solution for people who have experienced heavy shedding.
With the hair transplantation operation, genetically resistant hair follicles are collected from the nape of the patient and transplanted into the channels opened in the areas where baldness or thinning occurs. Hair transplant operation is a microsurgical operation performed under local anesthesia. For this reason, it should be performed in a hospital accompanied by an anesthesiologist.
Basic Stages of Hair Transplantation Process
Hair transplantation process has three basic stages;
1. Collection of hair follicles
Firstly, the donor area is prepared for the procedure. Then the hair follicles are collected by FUE motor one by one. Collection of hair follicles is a sensitive process since the follicles should not be damaged. Those follicles are called Graft and each graft contains 2-3 hairs on the average.
2. Opening channels
Precision and quality of channels are critical in terms of successive results in hair transplant. The channels should be opened in line with the hair follicle size and length. The angle of the channel also plays an important role in terms of coming up with natural look of the hair.
3. Planting the Hair Follicles
After opening channels in a right way, hair follicles are planted to the channels one by one with 45-degree angle.
Techniques Used in Hair Transplantation
Regardless of the technique used, all hair transplantation steps are common: Roots (hair follicles) collection, channel opening and plantation of roots (hair follicles) to the channels.
The major differentiation points among the techniques are;
- The device that is used in collection stage
- The medical instrument used while opening the channels and
- The medical instrument/device used while planting the roots.
The following hair transplantation methods are successfully applied. Each method is applied by being specially selected according to the needs and demands of the patient.
1. Robotic Hair Surgery
In the robotic hair transplant method, hair follicles are collected by the hair transplant robot. After the channels are opened with a hair transplant robot, the collected roots are planted manually.
2. Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant
In the Sapphire FUE hair transplantation method, a special sapphire tip pen is used instead of the metal slit during the grooving phase. What makes the method different is these sapphire tips, which allow smaller micro-channels to be opened, thus accelerating the healing process and reducing crusting.
3. DHI Hair Transplant (Unshaven)
In the DHI hair transplantation method, which is also called direct hair transplantation, the process of opening and transplanting the canal using a medical pen called choi is performed simultaneously.
Therefore, the hair follicles to be transplanted will remain outside for a shorter period of time compared to other methods and then the grafts are more likely to remain healthier compared to grafts in other techniques.
4. Normal FUE Hair Transplant
In the FUE hair transplantation method, hair follicles collected and separated using a micro motor are transplanted into manually opened channels.
The Most Up-to-Date Hair Transplant Technique: FUE method
The most up-to-date technology in hair transplantation is the FUE technique, which is a micro surgery and performed under local anesthesia with collection of hair follicles by micro motor.

How many hours does Hair Transplantation take and is it comfortable?
The operation takes an average of 6-7 hours. During the operation, general anesthesia is strictly not performed and the patient is not given narcosis. The patient who is administered local anesthesia or sedation takes the procedure by chatting.
Is Hair Transplant Operation painful?
Since hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia, the feeling of pain is minimal. Another method used in addition to local anesthesia is sedation. How Many Days Should I Allocate for Hair Transplant Operation?
It will be sufficient for the patient to allocate 2 days for the hair transplant operation.
In this 2-day process;
Day 1: Hair Transplantation
Hair transplantation and PRP treatment procedures are completed in our hospital(s).
Day 2: Control and Application of Wash-Free Solution
Our patient is re-hosted in our hospital(s) and it is checked whether there is any damage, bleeding or infection in the roots. A special care solution in the form of a spray is applied to the area where hair transplantation is performed by specialist doctors and experienced team.
Spray solution with moisturizing, germ-breaking and wound-healing properties is applied with very light touches by spraying 10-15 times every 3 hours for 6-7 days after hair transplantation. 9-10 days after hair transplantation, the scalp almost completely heals and sheds its crusts.
Full results can be observed within 6-18 months.
